ATLANTIC CITY, NJ. — (September 11, 2006) – Dr. Bradley Klein, architecture editor for Golfweek Magazine and a renowned and often controversial author, will appear as keynote speaker at the ING Mid-Atlantic Regional Golf Seminar.
The event is a function of the International Network of Golf, a 16-year-old organization dedicated to education and communication in the golf industry. It is coming back to Atlantic City after holding an extremely successful inaugural Mid-Atlantic Regional Golf Seminar in Atlantic City last year. This year’ scheduled return date is October 25 and 26, with headquarters at the Tropicana Casino and Resort.
The seminar will bring together some of the top minds in all facets of the golf industry for two days of seminars, panel discussions, exhibitions and networking. Also, an alliance has been struck with the New Jersey Golf Course Owners Association that will result in more than double the amount of people attending the golf conference.
Based in Connecticut with his family, Klein has made golf course architecture his passion. Not content with just seeing mainstream courses by "name" architects, Klein has always sought the tucked away gems. His book, Rough Meditations, is a great source for discovering courses of which absolutely nobody has ever heard. He is the architectural editor for Golfweek, editor of Golfweek’s Superintendent News and runs the annual top 100 classical and top 100 modern golf course rankings, thus giving further exposure to courses that aren’t featured in other periodicals. His second golf book, Discovering Donald Ross, was an immediate hit after its release in 2000.
The two days of education and communication will begin with an 18-hole golf tournament on both courses at Blue Heron Pines, just west of Atlantic City. Part of the purpose of the fall seminar is to test the Atlantic City area as a host site for a national ING Conference held each spring. This year the ING national conference was held in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
"No conference is ever dull when Brad Klein is around," said Mike Jamison, executive director of the International Network of Golf and a key figure at the ING Regional Seminar. "With Brad as keynote speaker and with so many top people in the golf industry on board, this should be two very interesting days of dialogue."
The Mid-Atlantic Regional Golf Seminar is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the golf industry, network with some of its leaders or bring their latest ideas to the media.
Reasonably priced packages for the conference have been arranged through Gary Shea at Golf Vacations (877-320-1991). Also, information is available on the website at www.golfvacations.com/ing.
