Furyk Gets His Second Win of the Season with Z-URC Golf Ball
ATLANTA – September 11, 2006 Srixon Staff Professional Jim Furyk won the Canadian Open on Sunday, September, 10th at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario. Furyk, armed with the Srixon W-506 driver, I-506 irons, Forged Wedges and the soon to be released Z-URC golf ball, shot a 14-under par, 266 total (63-71-67-65). With this win, Furyk moves into 2nd in the Official World Golf Rankings and further cements his 2nd place standing on the 2006 PGA Tour money list.
"2006 has been an unbelievable year," said Furyk. "The confidence that I have had in the Srixon Z-URC and the 506 driver and irons has given me the ability to play and win with my style of golf – precision, distance control and short game. As a result, I’ve been able to win two great tournaments on two outstanding ballstriker’s venues. This is the third oldest national championship in the world and Hamilton is a golf course that requires you to work the ball both ways and play all kinds of shots into these tough greens.
You won’t be successful here unless you know exactly what you’re golf ball is doing. With two wins and a career high in season earnings, I would say that my switch to Srixon was absolutely a great move for me," added Furyk.
This marks Furyk’s second win of the season to go along with his victory at the Wachovia Championship in May. He has a remarkable 10 top-4 finishes this year and 11 top-10s overall, and has now earned over $6MM in official prize money for the season – a career best. The 2003 U.S. Open Champion now has 12 career victories and is one of only 5 multiple winners on the PGA Tour in 2006.
In addition, Furyk earned a spot in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf after finishing on top of the 2006 Major Champions points list. He will compete against the winners of the year’s four major championships.
Srixon Staff Professionals have amassed 32 Top 10s on the PGA TOUR this season including Furyk’s two wins and John Rollins’ victory at the B.C. Open.
