11 September – The draw for the HSBC World Match Play Championship this week offers a number of tantalising clashes between the World’s best golfers.
Colin Montgomerie, eight-time winner of the European Tour Order of Merit, takes on England’s David Howell who currently lies in first place in the race for the 2006 European Tour Order of Merit title.
World Number 1,Tiger Woods takes on fellow American, Shaun Micheel, and World Number 6 Retief Goosen takes on Paul Casey. Jim Furyk, who moved up to World Number 2 in the World following last night’s win at the Canadian Open, takes on Robert Karlsson.
Adam Scott, who won in Singapore yesterday, takes on 2003 Masters Champion, Mike Weir. Ernie Els, back from injury and going for his seventh HSBC World Match Play title, takes on Angel Cabrera.
The world-class field is bursting with the world’s best golfers including six out the World’s Top Ten, seven Major Winners boasting 21 Major titles, three former HSBC World Match Play Champions and the current Number One and Two ranked players on both the 2006 US PGA Tour Money List and the 2006 European Tour Order of Merit.
