Product launch is at PGA Fall 2006 Expo in Las Vegas New ‘Must-Have’ Device Improves on Conventional Methods
Las Vegas; September 13, 2006 —Windageâ?¢ LLC (www.playthewind.com), announced today that it is launching a breakthrough golf product, Windageâ?¢ at the PGA Fall 2006 Expo in Las Vegas. Windage is a new product to help golfers read the wind with a simple but unique device that is both effective and easy to use. The product was designed with expert knowledge of wind conditions and is an advance from the traditional but imprecise "grass toss" method which only can reveal general wind direction. As most golfers know, tossing grass in the air is virtually ineffective in low wind conditions and is imprecise in changing wind conditions as gravity pulls the grass to the ground almost immediately. Until now, there have been no good alternatives to this convention.
Announcing Windageâ?¢
Windageâ?¢ is a patented golf ball shaped device that contains a natural powder that is dispensed with a simple squeeze of the plastic container. The puff of powder floats in the air for several seconds, quickly and easily revealing wind patterns, even with a slight breeze. It allows professionals and amateurs alike to "play the wind".
The plastic device will retail between $5.00 and $6.00 and be sold through advertising
specialty firms through Ball Pro as well as to golf retailers through Eagle Jack Golf at www.eaglejack.com.
The container has a carabiner clip for ease of use and the ball is made with one flat surface designed to imprint a company’s logo or other marketing message. The low price point and small size make it an ideal gift for golfers as well as an easy addition to other key equipment and golf accessories carried on the course.
PGA Professional Mark Sverkerson of Fox Hollow Golf Club in St. Michael, MN said, "Windage is much more accurate than grass in terms of judging where the wind is coming from and picking up subtle swirling winds. From shot to shot on the course, the wind is different and this makes it easy to judge it every shot without slowing down play. Plus, this is great for players with bad backs since there’s no bending down to pick up grass every time," said Sverkerson. "I think this product is a great idea."
David Healy, one of the owners of Windage LLC, has direct experience with both golf and the promotional products business. "I’ve been in the advertising specialty business for more than 15 years and we are constantly looking for unique and inexpensive golf products that offer real value to the end consumer," said David Healy, vice president of Windage LLC. "Golf accessories and products are our number one requested category of promotional products. Windageâ?¢ is a totally new device; it’s inexpensive and it offers a premium space for brand advertising in a small package. But the most important thing is that Windageâ?¢ really works! Customers will really value this gift."
