GREENSBORO, N.C. – – A rising star on the PGA TOUR and three veteran players have joined the field for the 2006 Chrysler Classic of Greensboro. Columbian Superstar Camilo Villegas, Wake Forest alumnus Billy Andrade, 1990 Chrysler Classic champion Steve Elkington and PGA TOUR veteran Corey Pavin will all play at Forest Oaks Country Club next month.

Villegas is currently No. 30 on the PGA TOUR Official Money list. Earlier this season, he tied for second at the FBR Open in Scottsdale, Ariz. and the Ford Championship at Doral near Miami. He won the Columbian Open in 2001. Villegas is so popular in Columbia that the Columbian Television Network will broadcast 30 PGA TOUR events this season.

Andrade has been a regular at the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event since he turned pro in 1987 having played 17-straight tournaments at Forest Oaks Country Club. He recorded his best finish in 1997 when he tied for fourth place; Andrade is 63rd on the current PGA TOUR Official Money List.

Elkington beat Mike Reid and Jeff Sluman by two strokes on his way to the 1990 Chrysler Classic title. The Inverell, Australia native, who also finished second in 1993, has played in the Chrysler Classic every year since 1988 making the 2006 tournament his 16th consecutive start in the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event.

Pavin has played in the Chrysler Classic 10 times; he finished fourth in 1985 when he recorded his best Chrysler Classic finish. Pavin won the July 30 U.S. Bank One Classic in Milwaukee, Wisc. He is 50th on the current PGA TOUR Official Money List.

Other recent commitments have come from 2004 Chrysler Classic champion Brent Geiberger, Aaron Baddeley, Jason Gore and Bernhard Langer.

The 2006 Chrysler Classic is set for Oct. 2-8 at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The tournament thanks DaimlerChrysler for 11 great years of partnership and Premier Partners, AIG, Harris Teeter and VF Corporation for their support.
