Orlando, Florida -September 14, 2006 – Marriott Golf, the world’s largest resort golf management company, today announced that Chris Flynn has been appointed to Director of Grounds at Grande Pines Golf Club, one of the premier golf courses in Central Florida. In this position, Flynn will be responsible for overseeing all grounds maintenance and operations at the 18-hole facility, designed by Steve Smyers together with player consultant Nick Faldo.
Flynn comes to Grande Pines from the Faldo Golf Institute in Orlando, Florida where he spent two years as Golf Course Superintendent. A member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and the New York State Turfgrass Association, Flynn has extensive experience preparing courses for professional tournaments, including the 1999, 2001 and 2002 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in Pebble Beach, California.
Flynn received a Bachelor’s degree of technology in Plant Science from the State University of New York at Cobleskill. While learning the business as an intern and Assistant Superintendent at several high profile golf clubs, Flynn also attended graduate school at San Jose State University, Southern Methodist University, and New York University, where he completed Masters courses in Recreation Management, Environmental Science, and Construction Management, respectively.
