Participate in a Virtual Closest-to-the-Flag Contest. Play #17 at Pebble Beach, on a Full Swing Golf Simulator, Site of Jack’s Miracle 1-Iron During the 1972 US Open
Las Vegas, Nevada. Capture The Flag Golf ("CTF"), a sports marketing and event management firm, in partnership with Full Swing Golf and their state-of-the-art golf simulators, is giving PGA Professionals and industry leaders a chance to test their skills against one of the greatest shots in the history of the game at the Full Swing Golf exhibit (Booth #707) during the PGA Fall Expo, Sept. 13-14, 2006, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. With real golf clubs, their real swing and industry-leading infrared-measurement from Full Swing, this interactive experience will enable attendees to tee it up on the famed Par 3 17th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
Prior to their attempt, attendees will view video featuring Special Olympic athletes and original footage of Jack Nicklaus playing the 17th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links in the 1972 United States Open Championship. Mr. Nicklaus carried a three shot lead when he stood on the tee of the 71st hole of the competition- that day the hole measured 219 yards, into a brisk wind; a mighty lash with his 1-iron produced a shot that caromed off the flagstick and came to rest six inches from the hole for a kick-in birdie, securing his third US Open title and eleventh major at the age of 32.
Capture The Flag Golf began developing grassroots "on course" fundraising strategies for Special Olympic programs in 2005 and is working with more than a dozen states and multiple chapters of the Club Managers Association of America. CTF is introducing its event series to attendees at the 2006 PGA Fall Expo and, in cooperation with Full Swing Golf, developing unique "virtual" CTF events for the more than 3,000 state-of-the-art Full Swing simulators deployed worldwide.
CTF would like to extend a special thank you to the United States Golf Association, The PGA of America, PGA Golf Exhibitions, The Pebble Beach Company, and Nicklaus Golf for their assistance and cooperation in helping to make this event possible.

About Capture The Flag Golf
CTF is a community-minded sports marketing, advertising and licensing firm. Our customized events and branding-initiatives are tailored to suit the goals of our sponsors, corporate clients and the charitable causes we support. In early 2006, CTF launched its flagship campaign using a simple closest-to-the-flag Par 3 contest; raising over $10,000 for Special Olympics Florida with the endorsement of and in partnership with the Florida chapter of the Club Managers Association of America and Golf Magazine. Each participating club’s name was placed into a hat and Special Olympic athlete, Todd Berger, selected Jacksonville Golf and Country Club as our inaugural winner- its member, Frank Valinho, was rewarded for having hit the closest shot at his club- becoming CTF’s first grand prize champion. Mr. Valinho was awarded four badges to the Wednesday practice round of the 2006 Masters Tournament and the famous Par 3 contest; CTF also provided lodging and golf at the acclaimed Cuscowilla Golf Club for Mr. Valinho and his three friends. CTF’s continuing mission statement is to increase awareness for Special Olympics state programs specifically from within the golf community. Special Olympic athletes in Florida, for example, compete in more than 400 events annually, ranging from golf, to equestrian, to track and field and all state programs are preparing for next year’s world games in Shanghai, China- and, as has been the case since the inception of Special Olympics, all Special Olympic athletes participate in all events free of charge, including everything from uniforms to equipment to travel and accommodations. CTF and its partners look forward to building on the success of last year’s pilot program for our 2007 campaign and beyond. Visit www.ctfgolf.com
