TaylorMade Introduces the rac Satin TP Wedge

Tour-Proven Wedge with Satin Finish is the second Wedge in TaylorMade’s Renowned Tour Preferred Line of Equipment, Joining the rac Black TP

CARLSBAD, Calif. (September 15, 2007) – Taylor Made Golf Company Inc. has introduced its new rac Satin TP, a wedge identical to the rac Black TP save for its satin finish.

The rac Satin TP wedge is engineered with TaylorMade’s tour-proven Y-cutter grooves, which feature sharp edges and a wide, deep design. Y-cutter grooves are 100% individually CNC milled after the face is milled flat, resulting in clean, sharp, consistent groove edges that grip the ball better, and a perfectly flat clubface. The sharper groove-edges grab the cover of the ball more effectively, and the added groove-width provides more room to channel debris into. It’s the sharpest groove edge TaylorMade engineers could come up with that wouldn’t damage the covers of today’s premium-performance balls.

Why call the grooves "Y-cutter"? TaylorMade engineers name each new groove after a letter of the alphabet. The "Y" groove revision was developed with the intent of making a groove that generates more spin and which promotes a lower launch angle. TaylorMade’s tour technicians and tour staff pros nicknamed them Y-cutter grooves, and the name stuck.

The rac Satin TP wedge’s sole is ground low on the trailing edge and especially at the toe and heel. When the sole is viewed from above the trailing edge appears curved, resembling the letter C. This sole configuration, which was developed on tour, allows players to open the clubface wide to play high, soft chips and pitches. Also, the leading edge is radiused, enhancing players’ ability to hit low, controlled shots without digging. The versatility made possible by both the C-grind sole and radiused leading edge make it possible to hit an extraordinarily wide variety of approach and greenside shots with one bounce configuration.

The rac Satin TP wedge delivers great feel thanks to its large Feel which efficiently channel unwanted impact vibration to strategic locations in the clubhead, promoting improved feel at impact. As good as TaylorMade’s original rac wedges feel, the rac Satin TP and Black TP wedges, with their larger Feel Pockets, feel even better.

TaylorMade rac Satin TP wedges will become available at retail in mid October at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $140 per club. The rac Satin TP wedge will be available in five different loft and tour bounce configurations: 52.08, 54.10, 56.12, 58.08 and 60.06.
