Norcross, GA (September 25, 2006) – Mizuno, world’s number one producer of forged irons, introduces the new MP-67â?¢, offering players superior ball control through design. Mizuno’s finely crafted line of MP irons have become the iron of choice for many of the top players on tours around the world, and now with the MP-67, Mizuno has taken muscleback design to the next level by adding an innovative "Slender" Cut Muscle Design to deliver unsurpassed feel and workability.
The MP-67 irons are Grain Flow Forged for the softest, most consistent feel in the game, and the award-winning Cut Muscle Design precisely positions the COG in each club for perfect trajectory, enhanced solid feel, and the ultimate in ball control. A rolled leading edge, cambered mid-sole, and rolled trailing edge deliver consistent striking ability from all types of lies, and modified U-grooves produce the ideal spin rate for maximum playability from anywhere on the course. The MP-67 long irons achieve a mid-high trajectory, while the scoring irons deliver a mid-trajectory.
"The MP-67 was specifically designed for the player who is seeking complete trajectory and distance control, and the soft, solid, consistent feel that can only come from Mizuno" said Dick Lyons, Vice President and General Manager, Mizuno USA Golf Division. "Demanding players have always appreciated the feel, consistency, and workability of our MP line of irons, but now with the addition of Cut Muscle technology, the MP-67 irons are more precise than any other muscle back iron we have ever produced."
The MP-67â?¢ is crafted from new 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel using Mizuno’s patented Grain Flow Forgingâ?¢ process to provide the ultimate soft, solid, consistent feel and quality from clubhead to clubhead. This new material meets specifications six-times tighter than the industry standard.
The MP-67â?¢ will be offered in right hand with True Temper Dynamic Gold R300 and S300 steel shafts and Golf Pride Tour Velvet 58 Round Grips standard. The suggested retail price for a set of MP-67â?¢ irons is $1,000 (3-PW). Other shafts and grips as well as flat or upright lies are available through Mizuno’s Custom Club department. The MP-67â?¢ is also available in a two iron. Mizuno will begin shipping the MP-67â?¢ irons to accounts in September.
