ATLANTA, GA (Sept. 25, 2006) – U.S. Kids Golf and ValleyCrest Golf Course Maintenance are teaming up to enhance opportunities for youngsters and their families to enjoy golf together. ValleyCrest will provide customized tee plates and other materials to help its nationwide portfolio of courses introduce the U.S. Kids Golf Personal Teeâ?¢ Golf Learning Program as a way to increase participation and revenues.
"The time for family golf has arrived, and we’re encouraging all of our courses to embrace the Personal Tee program to bring new players into the game and help families play the game together," said Greg Pieschala, president of the golf course maintenance division of Calabasas, Calif.-based ValleyCrest Companies. "We believe courses that cater to families will have a competitive advantage in the years to come."
In addition to the tee plates, ValleyCrest also will provide instruction booklets, achievement pins, caps and bag tags from the U.S. Kids Golf Personal Tee program as well as U.S. Kids Golf training clubs to more than 30 courses initially.
The U.S. Kids Golf player development program provides courses with an easy and affordable way to reduce the yardage on each hole and help players of varying abilities to enjoy the game together. The green and yellow Personal Tee fairway and cart-path tee plates, which are designed to be placed forward of the traditional red tee location, help define a shorter, less intimidating course. A typical green course is approximately 2,200 yards and the yellow course is approximately 3,800 yards, allowing beginners to shoot lower scores and enjoy the game more.
"We applaud the commitment ValleyCrest is making to its courses and to family golf," said Dan Van Horn, founder and president of U.S. Kids Golf. "It’s obvious ValleyCrest shares a passion for kids and the future of our game."
U.S. Kids Golf introduced the Personal Tee program in 1999 to encourage participation, game improvement, course management skills and etiquette among kids and beginners. Personal Tee is now a key part of the junior programs at hundreds of private, daily fee and municipal courses throughout the U.S.
