Golf Course Developer Publication Recognizes EWGA’s CEO as 2006 Mover & Shaker
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, September 26, 2006 — Pam Swensen, the Chief Executive Officer of the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) has received a 2006 Mover and Shaker award from Golf Inc magazine. Presented at the publication’s fall conference for golf course developers and operators held in Amelia Island, Fla., the award recognizes her leadership role in the growth of women’s golf.
Other recipients recognized at the awards presentation on September 25 at the Amelia Island Resort include Joe Steranka, CEO, PGA of America; Kirk Kokoska, National Director of Golf, BlueStar Resort & Golf; Stan Waterhouse, Senior VP of Operations and Hospitality, Ginn Co.; Bill Golden, VP & Director of Marketing, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday; Stephen Johnson, President/ Principal, Global Golf Advisors; Gary Player, Chairman, Gary Player Group; Tom Doak, Principal, Renaissance Golf Design; George Fellows, CEO, Callaway Golf; Bill Keogh, CEO, BrightStar Golf Group; Tom Shapland, President, Wadsworth Golf; and Will Gustafson & Tom Frost, Principals, Synergy Golf Partners.
Swensen was named CEO of the EWGA in May, 2006 and quickly set a goal to achieve "50 in 5" – meaning 50,000 members in the next five years for this nationwide women’s golf association. Founded in 1991, the organization is dedicated to providing opportunities to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf for business and for life. There are currently 120 chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
