The three year fund raising total approaches $500,000 as the pro-am event continues to grow at White Manor Country Club
Malvern, Pa. – (September 28, 2006) – The Divine 9 Open executive committee announced today that the fast-growing tournament raised a record sum for the third consecutive year. The celebrity pro-am golf tournament, held on May 19, 2006 at White Manor Country Club, again increased revenues by 20% to reach $192,000 and the three-year total reached $482,000 raised for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The double shotgun format was packed with 48 foursomes that consisted of a growing number of local celebrities led by honorary chairman Ukee Washington – the popular morning news anchor for CBS-3 television in Philadelphia. Other notables included former Flyers Gary Dornhoeffer and Brian Propp, Inside Golf’s Don Cannon and a variety of radio, television and newspaper celebrities.
Also lending their special brand of excitement on the golf course and in the after-golf party was Preston Elliott from WMMR’s Preston and Steve Show and local rock and roll hero Tommy Conwell.
"We couldn’t be more pleased about the turnout of golfers, celebs and enthusiastic party attendees," said Stefanie Langer, Executive Chair of the event. "And we wouldn’t be here without the generous support of our more than thirty corporate sponsors, led by Axis Construction Services, Merriman Curhan & Ford, Polygon Partners, Shiffrin & Barroway and Berwind Corporation. We’re all looking forward to leveraging our success this year into an even bigger event on September 14, 2007."
