Hidden Links

Hidden Links helps build the bridge between the 2006 and 2008 Ryder Cup.

During the recently-completed Ryder Cup, Hidden Links (www.hiddenlinksgolf.com), a golf tour operator to the British Isles based in Atlanta, GA, was pleased and proud to handle the arrangements for the official State of Kentucky delegation as the next Ryder Cup hosts in 2008, to be held at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.

The 22-person delegation was led by Governor Ernie Fletcher and the First Lady, Glenna Fletcher, and included Cabinet members such as Commerce Secretary Gene Strong and other dignataries.

Hidden Links arranged accommodations for the group at the Glasson Golf Hotel in County Westmeath, a perfect location that personified the many ties between Ireland and Kentucky with it’s beautiful rural setting. "We were only too delighted to match up this very special group with the folks at Glasson, led by owners Tom and Breda Reid," said Jeff Flynn, President of Hidden Links. "It was a match made in heaven from the start, for both sides."

The superb arrangements at Glasson had an additional benefit as well. Being west of the K Club, travel times to and from the Ryder Cup each day were often shorter than the commute from Dublin even though the distance was greater, and the group traveled in high style with the deluxe motorcoaches Hidden Links also provided.

Highlights of the week included Governor Fletcher presiding over a race at the famed Curragh Racecourse; an evening cruise across Lough Ree to the Wineport Restaurant; a reception at Carton House honoring the Governor, First Lady, and James C. Kenny, US Ambassador to Ireland; and the Closing Ceremony where the Ryder Cup "flag" was handed over to the Kentucky delegation as the next hosts, a’ la the Olympic games.

Anyone interested in planning their own group’s tour to the Emerald Isle, or a tour to Scotland, England, or Wales, can email Jeff Flynn at jflynn@hiddenlinksgolf.com to receive a no-cost-or-obligation proposed itinerary. Hidden Links is a member of IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators, www.iagto.com), and NAGTOA (North American Golf Tour Operators Alliance, www.nagtoa.com).
