Pat Croce keynote speaker at Golf Industry Show
Pat Croce, entrepreneur and nationally-renowned motivational speaker, will deliver the keynote address at the 2007 Golf Industry Show General Session, 8:30 a.m. PST Feb. 23.
The General Session kicks off Team Day at the Golf Industry Show, in which the focus of serving the needs of an entire golf course’s management staff – the owner, general manager and superintendent, takes center stage in Anaheim, Calif.
Croce, who got his start in sports medicine, was the first person to ascend from the training room to the boardroom of a professional sports team. The former president and part-owner of the National Basketball Association’s Philadelphia 76ers, Croce saw the team go from last place to first during his five years at the helm. The founder of Sports Physical Therapists, Croce developed a sports medicine empire of 40 centers in 11 states. Author of four self-help books, including three New York Times bestsellers and a fifth book about pirates, Croce opened an interactive pirate museum and restaurant in Key West, Fla., recently and is currently partnering with Donald Trump in hopes of developing a casino in his hometown of Philadelphia. Croce is also a co-owner of Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point, N.J.
Golf Industry Show Team Day will offer a multitude of opportunities to develop teamwork and leadership skills crucial for the development of each member of the golf course team. Bringing together owners/operators of golf facilities and the professional members of the golf course and club management industries, Team Day will provide an innovative and exciting day to celebrate the business of golf.
Two programs immediately follow the General Session that morning, as the Disney Institute, in partnership with The Toro Company, will present "Collaboration: The Execution of Teamwork" and the 2007 USGA Green Section Education Program will present "Myths, Fads and Fallacies: Their Impact on the Game." That afternoon attendees are encouraged to visit the trade floor, as a team, as there will be no competing education events scheduled.
In a joint statement, Golf Industry Show leaders GCSAA CEO Steve Mona, CAE; NGCOA CEO Mike Hughes and CMAA CEO Jim Singerling, CCM, CEC, noted the education component of the show makes it unique. "It should be quite apparent that the Golf Industry Show is more than an exhibition of products and services. It features compelling education from some of the most respected individuals and organizations in and out of the golf industry. The focus is clearly on the success of the facility."
The Golf Industry Show is an innovative trade show designed for the owners/operators of golf facilities, and the professional members of the golf course and club management industries. Featuring its signature interactive solution centers, as well as the largest exhibit floor in the industry, the event combines education, networking and solutions for golf course superintendents, owners/operators, general managers, chief operating officers, architects and builders.
The Golf Industry Show is presented by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) and the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), along with supporting organizations, the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA), the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) and the National Golf Foundation (NGF). The 2007 event will be Feb. 22-24 in Anaheim, Calif. Visit www.golfindustryshow.com.
