PLANO, TEXAS, October 10, 2006 -Adams Golf Tour Staff Pro Tom Jenkins captured his seventh career Champions Tour title with a one-stroke victory at the rain-shortened SAS Championship in Cary, N.C. Jenkins used four back-nine birdies in the second round to move atop the leaderboard with a score of 10-under 134.
This was Jenkins first win in 2006 and his tenth Top 10 finish. Adding a $300,000 winner’s check to his yearly total ($1,179,986), Jenkins moved into the 7th spot on the 2006 Money List and the win also vaulted him into the #9 position in the 2006 Charles Schwab Cup standings. He now has at least one Champions Tour victory in each of the last five years and has surpassed the $1 million season earnings mark for the eighth consecutive year.
"We congratulate Tom for not only his win at the SAS Championship last week, but for a very successful 2006 season," said Chip Brewer, Adams Golf CEO. "He has been a model of consistency this year and, for that matter, throughout his nine-year career on the Champions Tour. He’s a tremendous representative for Adams Golf and we are thrilled that a player of his caliber and competitiveness carries our golf clubs."
