#1 Brand on Tour Collects Three Titles as Successful Season Rolls On
Marlborough, MA-October 9, 2006-CHAMP Spikes, the number one brand on tour, showed its versatility again this weekend with three wins on three different tours-the PGA, European PGA, and the LPGA. CHAMP picked up wins both home and abroad for the second straight weekend, as winners at the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and the Corona Morelia Championship.
The CHAMP Pro Stinger Spikeâ?¢ was the spike of choice for the winner of the Chrysler Classic of Greensboro, his first Tour win in over three years and 19th victory of his career. The winner finished a phenomenal 16-under 272 wearing CHAMP’s Pro Stingerâ?¢ spike, the only hybrid spike on the market. Overall, CHAMP spikes were on the feet of 5 of the top 10 finishers.
Meanwhile, the result was the same at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as the winner there also finished at 16 under par for his first title in nearly two years. At St. Andrews, the winner sported the CDT cleat, a unique and specially designed CHAMP spike made especially for Hi-Tec shoes, providing better directional traction and elongated legs for the unpredictable European terrain.
Finally, spanning its third country, CHAMP Spikes was victorious at the LPGA’s Corona Morelia Championship in Mexico as the champion finished a remarkable 20-under 272. The winner captured the title in her home country with a five stroke lead over the runner-up, wearing CHAMP’s Lady Stinger spikesâ?¢ with the patented "C" wear indicator that shows golfers when to change spikes.
"Another terrific weekend for CHAMP Spikes, showing the golf world why we are the number one brand on tour," said Harris MacNeill, president of CHAMP. "Three different spikes won three different tournaments in three different countries, showcasing CHAMP Spikes versatility and dependability."
With these victories, CHAMP now owns 26 of 38 PGA TOUR titles, 14 of 22 on the European Tour and 12 of 22 on the LPGA in 2006, including the PGA "Grand Slam," in which CHAMP swept all four majors.
