Tampa, Fla. – Four men and four women advanced to the Chrysler Club Championship Finals to be held at Westin Innisbrook Golf Resort October 25th-29th. Brent Dorman and Marci Zweifel were medalists in the men’s and women’s division to top qualifying at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee on October 7th.
Brent Dorman, representing the Country Club of Ocala, led the men’s division carding a four-under par 68. Robert Levy, representing The Golden Bear Club at Keene’s Point, and David Obst, representing Coral Ridge Country Club, both carded rounds of 69 to qualify. David Hawkins, representing Windsor Parke Golf Club, rounded out the qualifiers firing a one-under par 71. Hawkins survived a two hole play-off against Joe Raimonda, representing Golden Hills Golf and Turf Club, to claim the last spot.
Marci Zweifel, representing Bay Hill Club and Lodge, led the ladies division with a round of one-under par 71. Myra Murray, representing The Golden Bear Club at Keene’s Point, qualified with a two-over par 74. Leslie Smith, representing Jacksonville Golf and Country Club, qualified carding a round of 77, while Arlene McKitrick, representing The Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club, claimed that last spot with a round of 79.
The Florida State Golf Association conducted the regional Chrysler Club Championship for Club Champions across the state at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club on Saturday, October 7. The top four women and men from the Florida regional gained the opportunity to play at the Westin Innisbrook Golf Resort during the Chrysler Championship. The best man and woman from Innisbrook will then have the opportunity to play with professional golfers and celebrities at the 2007 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
The FSGA was pleased to partner with Chrysler and the Golf Digest Companies to host the regional in the state to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Junior Golf Association.
Organized in 1913, the Florida State Golf Association is a not-for-profit organization that governs amateur golf in the state of Florida. In addition to conducting 22 championships for amateur golfers in the state, the FSGA is responsible for 41 qualifying tournaments for USGA National Championships and the Florida Junior Tour.
