MADISON, WI – Laser Link Golf will be a part of the most unique competition in golf this October 17, when all competitors will use the Laser Link Distance System during the 2006 People vs. The Pros held at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, NC. This one-of-a-kind event pits regular amateur golfers against top professional golfers from the PGA Tour and the Senior PGA Tour. The winner of this year’s 18-49 Division will win the opportunity to square off against PGA Tour player Retief Goosen, while the champion in the 50+ Division will win the chance to go toe-to-toe with Senior PGA Tour player Gary McCord.
"There really is no other event that puts a regular golfer in this type of situation," said Dan Steiner, Vice President, Laser Link Golf. "It will be important for them to have accurate information, and the Laser Link Distance System will allow them to have the same exact distance information as their Tour professional opponent."
During the entire event, from the amateur qualifying rounds to the championship matches, the amateurs and professionals alike will use the Laser Link Distance System and the QuickShotâ?¢ Rangefinder to get their accurate distance measurements to the flagstick. As everyone knows, accurate measurements are very important to top professional players, but they’re just as important to amateur golfers as well. Knowing the distance is the first step in hitting a good shot, and the Laser Link Distance System is the fast, simple, and easy way to get the job done.
"The Laser Link System was a terrific addition to the event," said Andrew Batkin, CEO of Manhattan Beach, Ca. based Innovative Media Solutions, LLC, the People vs. the Pros organizer. "Every player in the field truly benefited from the information, and because the System is so fast and so easy, pace of play was the best it’s ever been."
Tune in to ESPN2 at 7:30PM Eastern on October 17 to see the Laser Link Distance System in action.
