The PGA of America Florida Golf Experience, which launches Oct. 20, is designed to increase golf play and travel to Florida’s PGA Professional-staffed facilities
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – For decades, golfers have flocked to Florida in the winter months, all too eager to trade in the stark realities of cold and snow for the lush greenery and warm sand of the Sunshine State. Over that time, PGA Professionals have played an invaluable role in providing memorable golf experiences for those who willingly made the trek south.
Now, through the PGA of America Florida Golf Experience, a comprehensive, first-of-its-kind marketing campaign between The PGA of America and VISIT FLORIDA, the Official Florida Tourism Industry Marketing Corporation, PGA Professionals at 25 Florida golf facilities will be even further positioned as the most identifiable figures for golf in the state.
The PGA of America Florida Golf Experience, which launches October 20, is designed to increase golf play and travel to Florida’s PGA Professional-staffed facilities. Through a newly developed Web site, www.pgafloridagolf.com, 25 facilities and their PGA Professional staffs are highlighted as destinations and experts, respectively, that golfers will want to consider on their next excursion to Florida.
With travel representing $13 billion of the $62 billion annual golf industry, The PGA has worked closely with VISIT FLORIDA, to explore ways that a collaborative golf marketing effort could be developed in a state synonymous with golf and also home to PGA of America headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens.
Over a 12-month period, 5 million impressions will be generated from the PGA of America Florida Golf Experience Web site, which was designed by the combined prowess of the electronic teams at GOLF.com and GOLFONLINE.com.
There will also be advertisements for the PGA of America Florida Golf Experience running in three separate issues of GOLF Magazine.
"The PGA of America is pleased to be able to partner with VISIT FLORIDA and work with Golf Magazine and its properties to produce the PGA of America Florida Golf Experience," says Joe Steranka, chief executive officer of The PGA of America. "This is an exciting business venture that combines several of the game’s strongest brand names to help grow the game and business of golf in Florida."
The new Web site features an interactive map of the state, rotating instruction offerings from PGA Professionals at each of the 25 facilities, and links to the Web sites of all participating facilities. The 25 were determined based on their financial commitment to the program after The PGA of America contacted the highest-ranking PGA Professional at more than 950 Florida golf facilities.
The following 25 golf facilities will be participating in the launch of the PGA of America Florida Golf Experience. Each facility has at least one PGA Professional on staff. For more information, log on to www.pgafloridagolf.com.
