Newest Bechtol Russell Design Community Hosts Spectacular Event
(Austin, Texas) Waterford Texas, the newest golf community development just east of Marble Falls, Texas, along the upper banks of Lake Travis, hosted 400 invitees, founders, members, guests and others to "A Taste of Waterford" on Saturday, October 21st. The event spread across an incredible set of homesites above the fifth hole of Waterford’s Bechtol/Russell championship golf course.
Party-goers began arriving around 4:00pm in shuttles courtesy of neighbors Faith Academy and Hickory Creek Farms and were treated to exquisite presentations of food and drink. Guests circulated from the large open-air tent to "The Golf Shop" tent to "The Spa at the Village" tent. Waterford’s head golf professional Alan Wooley offered test-drives of the soon-to-be released square driver from Callaway Golf, and Cutter & Buck’s Brian Kennedy had the latest in fine golf apparel on display. Guests were also treated to manicures, pedicures, facials and chair massage in the Spa.
Waterford kept its promise as a family club in providing a "Kid’s Club" area for kids to watch movies, play in a "Jupiter Jump" and ride horseback in the "Waterford Stable" on world champion team roping horses, led by the team ropers themselves.
Throughout the day and into the evening, guests were treated to golf course tours by golf pro Alan Wooley and by course architects Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell. The front nine has been completely grassed, and the back nine progress is on schedule
Just before sunset, organizers held a "Hole-in-One Contest" for a select few golfers to try a shot at an ace on the fifth hole. Although no one succeeded in holing the 175-yard shot, anyone who had would’ve won a homesite valued at $500,000.
As the sun set to the west across the fifth green, Danny Britt and Red Dawg Music cranked up and entertained the crowd with traditional Texas country music, performing both cover and original recordings. Between sets, Waterford Club managing partner Jimmy Terry spoke about the vision of Waterford and gave thanks to landowners Wayne and Faye Ausmus and developer John Carlew. Terry also recognized Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell, who spoke about the golf course being considered "among the best in Texas."
Guests stayed late into the night, dancing to Red Dawg Music and returning to the wine bars and shrimp-filled ice bowls that served as the centerpiece for the amazing buffet.
