International golf course architecture practice is joined by talented, young Design Associate from Denmark

(London, England – October 24, 2006) Thomson Perrett & Lobb, the international golf course architecture practice founded by five times Open Champion Peter Thomson with partners Ross Perrett and Tim Lobb, has strengthened its expanding business by recruiting a new Design Associate.
Philip Christian Spogard, 28, from Denmark, a graduate in landscape architecture from the Royal University of Copenhagen, joins TPL as a Design Associate based in London following a successful four-month internship at the company’s Melbourne offices.
TPL Partner and Course Designer Ross Perrett, said: "Thomson Perrett & Lobb is enjoying a period of sustained growth, with projects underway across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, so acquiring a talented design associate like Philip is excellent news. During his internship with us in Melbourne we saw that he is an exceptional individual and will be a great asset to our business."
Spogard, who plays to a handicap of three, speaks five languages – Danish, English Swedish, Norwegian and German – and first graduated with a BSc in Law from the University of Copenhagen, before pursuing his dream of becoming a golf course architect. Having taken up golf at age 17, his interest in the game led him to travel around the world observing the best course designs, including Pebble Beach and many of the UK’s Open Championship venues.
"It’s a dream come true to work with an international golf course design practice of the calibre of TPL and I very much appreciate the opportunity that Peter, Ross and Tim have given me," said Spogard. "I love the diversity of the projects I am currently working on with TPL, including courses in England, Egypt and Turkey, as well as in many other locations worldwide."
To supplement Spogard’s horizons he is currently completing a two-year diploma in golf course design with the EIGCA (European Institute of Golf Course Architects). He will work alongside Principal and Course Designer Tim Lobb in TPL’s office in Surrey.
