Nippon Shaft’s N.S. Pro 900XH and N.S. Pro 1030H Designated For Cobra’s New S9 and FP Iron Series
SCHAUMBURG, Illinois (October 25, 2006) – Nippon Shaft has been selected as the stock steel shaft for Cobra Golf’s new S9 and FP irons as well as for Cobra’s new Baffler DWS utility metals, Nippon Shaft officials announced today.
"Nippon Shaft is very excited to have been chosen to supply stock steel shafts for Cobra’s new S9 and FP irons and Baffler DWS utility metals," said Hiroyuki Fukuda, head of the Nippon Shaft USA office, located in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg. "Cobra products represent the cutting edge of technology and we are proud to be associated with them."
The King Cobra S9 irons are the company’s most technically advanced irons. They will be stocked with the N.S. Pro 900XH steel shaft, a 90-gram shaft custom made for the S9 and designed to give players higher launch on their shots. The Cobra FP irons are designed for the player seeking the perfect balance of feel and playability and will be stocked with Nippon’s N.S. Pro 1030H shaft, which weighs 103 grams.
The King Cobra Baffler DWS is a new product design that improves upon the previous generation Baffler, which has been the top selling utility metal since March 2006. The new Baffler DWS will come stocked with an N.S. Pro 950 shaft weighing 95 grams.
"Cobra Golf chose Nippon Shaft products as the stock steel shafts for our new King Cobra S9 and FP irons and Baffler DWS utility metals because of the company’s consistent high quality and performance," said Cobra Golf’s President Jeff Harmet. "Nippon Shaft also is a reliable supplier and business partner."
Last year was the first time Cobra selected Nippon Shaft as a stock shaft in any of its products. Fukuda said positive reaction from golfers who purchased Cobra irons and Bafflers helped Nippon Shaft earn another opportunity to work with Cobra again this year.
"Last year was a very high profile launch for us that proved to be very successful," Fukuda said. "The irons were very well received in the market and Cobra received a lot of positive customer feedback."
Many golfers prefer steel shafts in their irons because steel shafts provide more accuracy and consistency in their shots. Nippon Shaft has been a pioneer in manufacturing light weight steel shafts that help players increase club head speed (because of less weight) and maintain accuracy (because of the sturdiness of its steel).
Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia with more than 80 percent of the market and ranks No. 2 in the North America. Currently, more than 100 touring professionals worldwide use Nippon Shaft products in their clubs, resulting in more than 50 victories in the last three years, Fukuda said. All shafts sold by Nippon Shaft are made in Japan in order to maintain the highest quality labor and technical expertise.
Nippon Shaft is a subsidiary of privately held NHK, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer based in Yokohama, Japan. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Schaumburg, Illinois.
