TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staffer Birdies Four of His Final Six Holes to Win by a Shot

CARLSBAD, Calif. (October 25, 2006) – Fred Funk, one of the newest members of the Champions Tour, secured his first senior circuit victory in just his third attempt at last week’s AT&T Championship. Birdies on four of the six finishing holes during the final round moved him from eight-under-par to 12-under, good enough for a one-shot victory.

Funk, who turned 50 in June, previously tied for 11th in both the US Senior Open and the Ford Player’s Championship. The bulk of his year has been spent competing on the PGA Tour, where he currently ranks 2nd in driving accuracy stats at 78%, and currently ranks in the top 50 on the money list.* He won the AT&T in typical Funk fashion – by relentlessly hitting fairways and greens. Not only was he typically straight off the tee, he also averaged a respectable 282 yards.

In his bag: TaylorMade r7® 425 driver, TaylorMade 3-wood, TaylorMade Rescue® Mid, TaylorMade irons (3-iron CGB Max; 4-6 irons racâ?¢ LT; 7-9 iron rac TP), TaylorMade rac TP wedges. He wore adidas Golf footwear.**

Additional contenders at the AT&T included TaylorMade Tour Staffers Scott Simpson, Loren Roberts, Ron Streck and Gary McCord, who finished 3rd, T4, T7 and T11, respectively. Roberts currently ranks 2nd on the Champions Tour money list and 2nd on the points list for the Charles Schwab Cup, with only the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship left to play.
