FORT WORTH, Texas — The No. 1 Hybrid Shaft on the LPGA Tour, the IROD® Hybrid by United Sports Technologies demonstrated superior tight shot dispersion and distance control to win The Mitchell Company LPGA Tournament of Champions presented by Kathy Ireland. The win set a new tournament record with a 10-stroke margin of victory. The win set a new tournament record with a 10-stroke margin of victory.

The LPGA Tournament of Champions marks the 10th LPGA Tour victory for high-performance graphite shafts by UST in 2006.

"We’re very pleased that the world’s finest golfers recognize the benefits of playing graphite shafts specifically designed to deliver high-performance," says Gene Simpson, vice president of sales and marketing for UST brands. "We recognize breakthrough shaft designs play an increasingly important role in offering players superior golf equipment. Since the company’s inception in 1991, UST has led the way in developing new technologies and designs to further expand the playability and use of graphite golf shafts in a variety of clubhead designs, and the IROD is a great example of how world-class engineering and design increase playability and shot reliability."

The IROD Hybrid graphite shaft features Interlinked Carbonâ?¢, an innovative carbon fiber technology that has been combined with UST’s touted advancements in shaft tip design. Unlike the ‘invisible technologies’ of many graphite shafts, IROD’s custom-engineered carbon fiber material is clearly visible on the butt section of every shaft. As a part of new Interlinked Carbon technology, high modulus graphite fibers are specially woven to provide hoop strength and a firmer, more solid feel in the hands. Fibers running vertically provide stiffness while the fibers running at 90 degrees prevent the shaft from deforming or flattening under load.

From the IROD Hybrid to the popular HTD and premium Accra series to the new Proforce V2, UST remains committed to technical innovation through better research and testing practices, superior manufacturing capabilities and unwavering quality assurance.
