Overland Park improvement center is 1st location in the State of Kansas
Overland Park, KS – The use of advanced technology to aid in golf instruction is sweeping the country and is now making its way to the Overland Park area with the opening of a GolfTEC Improvement Center. This is the first of three GolfTEC locations slated for the Kansas City Metro. GolfTEC is the leading national chain of golf instruction facilities, providing golfers of all skill levels the opportunity to use digital video, impact analysis, biofeedback technology and motion-evaluation computers to develop their swing. PGA Teaching Professionals provide all instruction.
"State-of-the-art technology is the foundation for our approach to golf instruction," said Dan Dolan, PGA Professional and Director of Operations of GolfTEC Overland Park. "The traditional golf lesson is given by an instructor using only his eyes, or maybe video but ultimately relies upon the individual opinion of that one instructor. The GolfTEC method relies on facts recorded by patented, sophisticated equipment that is analyzed by certified personal coaches. No one else can provide such advanced coaching."
The facility opens on December 15th. A Grand Opening Celebration will be held January 17th, from 5-8pm. GolfTEC is located at 8901 W. 95th Street in Overland Park, KS — within the Cherokee South Shopping Center at 95th and Antioch streets. Free lesson demonstrations, prizes and refreshments will be provided. Plus, GolfTEC will offer free practice memberships with selected lesson program purchases throughout January.
How does it work?
During a lesson, GolfTEC clients wear two small sensors that measure key movements throughout the golf swing. One of the certified personal coaches on GolfTEC’s staff will analyze that information and compare it to a database of top PGA TOUR players. The student receives instant feedback to achieve ideal swing parameters. Students can then review video of their lesson with specific follow-up drills and notes through the GolfTEC website. According to Gregg Tanner, owner of the Overland Park location, GolfTEC also incorporates other aspects of golf into their instruction to produce better players, not just golfers with a better swing. The "TEC" in GolfTEC stands for Technique, Equipment and Conditioning. Instructors provide guidance on how to make the body better suited for golf and provide custom club fitting.
"Golfers love the GolfTEC system because it’s so easy to visualize and understand what needs to be improved. They also enjoy the flexibility of our lessons – weather and darkness do not affect our ability to give instruction," said Dolan. "Improvement time is cut dramatically with our system so students see scores drop quickly. And the online component allows students to access their video footage and practice techniques from home, work or on the road."
