PACOIMA, Calif. — Harrison Sports golf shafts delivered top performance and reliability this weekend to win the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in an exciting playoff on the world stage. The new champion — an Irish-born, 11-year tour veteran — played a Harrison Striper Long Drive graphite shaft in his driver and a Harrison Impulse shaft in his 2- and 3-hybrid clubs to defeat the tournament’s world-renowned defending champion.
The Harrison Striper Long Drive and Impulse shaft combination have packed a one-two punch throughout most of the 2006 season, and recently delivered Europe’s most coveted title — the European Order of Merit.
"The Dunlop Phoenix is another strong victory for Harrison shafts," states Mike Cheng, president of Harrison. "Both the Striper Long Drive and Impulse Hybrid shaft designs are extremely consistent and accurate which are two traits professional players depend upon every day, and our repeated successes on the pro tours is a big reason Harrison shafts are more popular than ever."
Composed of boron reinforced X-6200 graphite, the Striper Long Drive shaft features a high flex point and 3.5 degrees of torque. Introduced in 2006, Harrison’s new Impulse Hybrid shaft incorporates a patent-pending Inlay Titanium Matrix, a thin layer of titanium wrapped around the shaft’s tip section to increase stability, reduce shaft torque and to dramatically improve accuracy. Hybrid-design clubs must often withstand more stress at impact due to turf contact, so enhanced stability is a critical design factor for shafts to resist impact distortion. The Harrison Impulse shaft also possesses a lower balance point and produces a higher launch angle to more easily get the ball airborne. Impulse shafts are available as a fairway wood or utility iron.
