ORLANDO, FL—Five years ago, Mystic Dunes â?¢ Golf Club opened two miles south of Walt Disney World. With so many other courses in the Central Florida area, the owners wanted something different. They told course designer & former PGA player Gary Koch to give them a design that people would talk about. And talk they did!

Has the course lived up to its reputation? "It’s exceeded everyone’s expectations," said General Manager Melissa Suttles. "I think Mystic Dunes stands out because the greens are challenging and the areas around the greens allow better golfers to play any shot imaginable and be more creative with their game. At the same time, they are fair enough to suit the average golfer just as well."
The course is listed by Golf Digest’s "Best Places To Play" as a four-star facility, and is ranked #2 among "Orlando’s Top 5 Golf Courses" by TravelGolf.com. Just recently, Mystic Dunesâ?¢ Resort & Golf Club was listed on the top 100 list of Golfweek’s Best Resort Golf Courses.
This past summer, the USGA increased the course and slope ratings for the golf course. "The course has matured and the confines have tightened up which means the course has become harder," said Rick Smith, Mystic Dunes Head PGA Professional. The course ranking was raised from 74.3 to 75, and the slope rating increased from 137 to 145.
To celebrate its 5th anniversary, Mystic Dunes has recently opened a new steakhouse, Kenzie’s Steak House, which offers a casually elegant dinner experience featuring a variety of steak and seafood specialties.
Mystic Dunesâ?¢ Golf Club, a high-end daily fee course, is open to the public and is located at the Mystic Dunesâ?¢ Resort & Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. Designed by Champions Tour player and NBC Golf Analyst Gary Koch, this premier Central Florida course is a par-71, 7,102-yard golfer’s dream. Reflective of the uniqueness of the design is the par 4 10th hole. It’s a drivable par 4 (300 yards from the regular tees), but long hitters must weigh the reward against the risks.
