First-Ever PGA Global Economic Summit on Trends Influencing the Golf Industry to be Conducted at the 2007 PGA Merchandise Show

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) With a focus on bringing international economic golf trends to the forefront of industry business planning, The PGA of America will introduce the first PGA Global Economic Summit during the 54th PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 25-27, 2007. The Summit will be the featured PGA Merchandise Show program on Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. EST., and conducted on the new PGA Equipment Forum stage of the Orange County Convention Center.

Summit speakers represent three of the largest PGA Associations worldwide: PGA of America Chief Executive Officer Joe Steranka, PGA of Great Britain Chief Executive Sandy Jones and PGA of Australia Chief Executive Officer Max Garske. This multimedia presentation will present global trends and the economic significance of golf tourism, employment and tax dollars. Speakers will further address how these trends impact grassroots business and the potential international growth of the game. The PGA Global Economic Summit is the featured event among several smaller trends presentations held throughout the first Show day, themed Emerging Global Trends & Product Introductions.

The 2007 PGA Merchandise Show will host more than 43,000 international golf industry professionals who will preview and test merchandise from more than 1,250 golf manufacturers, learn valuable retailing methods and share successful player development programs to foster the continued growth of the game. PGA Professionals, media and invited buyers will kick off the annual gathering with a Demo Day at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge on Jan. 24, 2007, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. EST. Exhibition, education and player development programs will take place Jan. 25-27, 2007, from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The PGA Merchandise Show is a trade industry-only event.
