ORLANDO, FL – Eagle Creek Golf Club in south Orlando has named Kimberly Rice as its new Executive Chef.
Rice comes to Eagle Creek after serving as executive chef at several Orlando-area restaurants. Her most recent jobs included Executive and Banquet Chef at Greenside’s Restaurant in Harmony, and the same position at Sam Snead’s tavern in Orlando.
"We are fortunate to add Kimberly to our team," said Eagle Creek acting General Manager Tony Crawford. "She brings a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to the job."
Rice has a first-class product with which to work. Eagle Creek’s restaurant, The Belfry, was recognized as one of the best ’19th Holes’ in Central Florida by Orlando Magazine. The author of the article, Michael Rowe, ranked his 10 favorite 19th holes in the area, which boasts nearly 150 golf courses. He placed Eagle Creek’s grillroom and bar at No. 7.
"The 19th hole at Eagle Creek definitely has maximized its potential," says Rowe in the article. "Eagle Creek’s planners put the grill room and bar on the second level of the 14,000-square-foot clubhouse. And I’ve always wondered why more golf clubs don’t do what Eagle Creek has done; surround the seating area with floor-to-ceiling windows. Combined with the skylight, it gives the illusion that you are still part of the golf going on around you."
The Belfry overlooks the spectacular, risk-reward 18th hole, which is completely fronted by a lake. As Rowe added, "If you’ve finished playing, your entertainment comes from watching fellow golfers contemplate the 18th hole. Should they go for the green surrounded by water on this par 5? From the big number you just made, you could tell them they should lay up." That hole, incidentally, was ranked among the best 18 Holes In Central Florida by Golf Life magazine.
Along with the outstanding vista, the Eagle Creek grill room serves up a diverse menu for lunch, and can host group presentations and meetings in two separate rooms.
Eagle Creek, the highly acclaimed Ron Garl/Howard Swan design has hosted dozens of major golf competitions and corporate outings in its two years of existence, including the Florida Open, the NCAA Women’s match Player, National Finals of the Buick Scramble, the PGA Pro-Pro Series, the National Championships of the Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt Junior Challenge on The Golf Channel and many others.
Along with recognition as one of the top event management courses in Central Florida, Eagle Creek has also gained a reputation as an outstanding golf course. Travel and Leisure magazine tabbed Eagle Creek as one of the top 10 new courses in Florida this decade.
Located just minutes from Orlando International Airport, Eagle Creek proved to be a favorite among visiting golfers as their "getaway round," thus the slogan "Save The Best ‘Til Last" was the theme of one Eagle Creek advertising campaign.
