CoFounders Dave Phillips and Dr. Greg Rose to Promote Next Frontier in Golf Fitness
Oceanside, CA (December 1, 2006) – The Titleist Performance Institute, cofounded and created in 2003 by Dave Phillips and Dr. Greg Rose to provide golfers with the ultimate golf learning experience, announces its participation at the 2007 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando from January 25-27. TPI is one of the most technologically advanced golf evaluation facilities in existence focusing on swing efficiency, conditioning, and custom equipment fitting. It combines industry leading experts, state of the art technology, and world class facilities to enhance the performance and physical well-being of golfers of all skill levels.
"We recognize the increasing importance of the PGA Merchandise Show as an educational platform for their members," commented Phillips, a longtime PGA Professional and one of GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers. "It is the ideal setting for us to reach the greatest number of PGA members, instructors and fitness experts in an effort to educate them on the importance of golf fitness and advise them of the growth opportunities available to them within the golf industry. Our three priorities for attending the Show are to promote the MyTPI.com subscriber-based website for professionals, the 2nd Annual World Golf Fitness Summit, and the TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor Program. All of these initiatives help support the PGA member and those who play an integral part in growing the game and increasing golfers’ enjoyment of the game."
For over 11 years, Phillips and Rose have been studying the best ball strikers in the world and the impact the body has on the golf swing. MyTPI.com is an accumulation of their research and findings with additional content being provided by members of the TPI Health and Fitness Advisory Board. The advisory staff consists of world-renowned experts from a wide variety of disciplines including golf professionals and instructors, doctors, chiropractors and physical and personal trainers.
"While MyTPI.com is available to all golfers, there is a separate and exclusive website for PGA Professionals, instructors, registered trainers and golf, medical and chiropractic professionals," said Dr. Rose. "Through this subscription-based version of MyTPI, a professional can offer an on-line physical screening and develop a personalized workout program for their students. It also provides professionals access to other web site content previously only available to tour players and TPI attendees and staff."
The 2nd Annual World Golf Fitness Summit, hosted by Phillips and Rose, brings together some of the world’s top strength and conditioning experts for golf. The three-day seminar will focus on the growing discipline of golf-specific fitness. An assembled panel of world-renowned experts and TPI Advisory Board members will deliver presentations on topics such as understanding golf swing biomechanics, testing for physical limitations that affect performance, nutritional considerations during golf, team building for player development, and exercise progressions for developing posture, stability, mobility and power. The Summit attracts attendees from a wide variety of disciplines who have an interest in taking their instruction skills and services to the next level. The Summit will take place from April 19-22, 2007 at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando.
The TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor Program is a three level education course designed to teach instructors and trainers to identify and overcome any physical restrictions that are limiting a student’s potential. Over 20 workshops will be conducted around the world in 2007, featuring the latest in golf-specific health and fitness, golf swing biomechanics, physical screening techniques, exercise prescriptions, and the most recent research and development in the field of golf swing analysis. All workshops include a comprehensive training manual and materials needed to perform a full physical screen. Classes are taught by the experts from the Titleist Performance Institute’s Health and Fitness Advisory Board.
Dave Phillips is a PGA Professional and is among GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Teachers. Considered one of the world’s premier instructors, he applies his expertise in computerized swing analysis and biomechanics to create a clear picture of what happens during the golf swing. Born in England and raised in Africa and Australia, Phillips has had the unique experience of playing with and instructing some of the game’s greatest golfers worldwide.
Dr. Rose is a board certified Doctor of Chiropractic who also holds a degree in Engineering. He helped pioneer the field of analyzing computerized 3-D motion and how the body works during the golf swing. He specializes in strength and conditioning, manual therapy, rehabilitation, nutritional supplementation and therapeutic exercises as they relate to golf. Dr. Rose has worked with more than 500 professional and 3,000 amateur golfers to help them reach their peak performance.
Phillips and Rose will host their fourth season of Golf Fitness Academy presented by Titleist on The Golf Channel in 2007, with 10 new episodes scheduled to begin airing in April to help golfers build a better game through fitness.
The Titleist Performance Institute will be located in Booth #2153 at the PGA Merchandise Show.
