Oswego, IL – In recent "Hands-On" player testing, administered nationally by Golfing Magazine, SMT Golf’s Avocet Hybrid was once again presented with the prestigious Players’ Choice Award for receiving the Highest Reader’s Rating in one of the five categories.
In this program, hybrids are submitted by most major manufacturers and tested by amateur golfers all over the country under the supervision of a PGA Professional. The testing was administered to golfers of varied skill levels in order to give a better representation of how all golfers hit these clubs. Each hybrid is then ranked in several categories: Appearance, Forgiveness, Consistency, Distance, and Value and then given an Overall Performance Rating based on these cumulative scores. SMT’s Avocet Hybrid ranked #1 against twenty other hybrids that were tested including TaylorMade’s Rescue Dual, Nike’s Slingshot, Cleveland’s HiBore, MacGregor MacTec, Nickent’s 3DX Callaway’s Fusion FT, and Mizuno’s FliHi, Adams’ Idea, Bridgestone’s J33 and Ping’s G5.
Designed as a game improvement club, SMT’s Avocet Hybrid received the following comment from one of Golfing Magazine’s Play Testers, Tim McCarthy, a 12 handicapper, "My shots held their line with great distance."
Tom LaBrie, 8 handicapper said of the Avocet, "Nice and stable through impact and great height on shots".
Ken Hamilton, 12 handicap on the SMT Avocet, "Loved it off the tee on tight holes, hit every fairway".
