Orlando, Fla. – December 11, 2006 – Marriott Golf, the world’s largest resort golf management company, today announced that Doug Devries has been named Superintendent at the Faldo Golf Institute located at Marriott’s Grande Vista Resort in Orlando, Florida. In this position, Devries will be responsible for maintaining the grounds and landscaping for the 35 acre golf facility, which is home to a 9-hole course and state-of-the art practice facility.
Devries comes to the Faldo Golf Institute from The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando, Grande Lakes, one of Orlando’s premier golf resorts, where he spent four years as the Assistant Superintendent. During his time at Grande Lakes, his responsibilities included overseeing the construction and grow-in phase of the newly designed Greg Norman course, while managing and training a staff of 32 associates. Prior to his tenure at Grande Lakes, Devries served as General Manager at a sprinkler and landscape company in Montrose, California, as well as Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at The Denver Country Club in Denver, Colorado.
Devries graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Turf Management and he also received degrees in Business Management from Metro State College in Denver, Colorado and San Diego State University in California. Devries is a Class A Member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
