Don Gamer, CEO of The HoleView Yardage Book Company, died on November 25th, in a tragic car accident.
Don started The HoleView, along with his wife Terry, in 1994 after a successful career as a newspaper publisher. He often asked, "How many people get to have two extraordinary careers in one lifetimeâ?¦and love them both?"
His passion for golf, combined with his publishing background, inspired Don to develop a way of using aerial photography in a Yardage Book at a time when only graphics were usedâ?¦thereby making the product look totally realistic.
Over the years, The HoleView developed long-lasting relationships with the industry’s leading Management Companies, Audubon International, and Avendra. Don designed unique Environmental Yardage Books for courses that worked with Audubon International; LoyaltyProgram Books to promote repeat play and create additional revenue streams; Club Anniversary Commemorative Books for private clubs that were celebrating significant anniversaries; and Dual-language Books for international courses.
But more than anything, Don built friendships with the people he worked with in the golf industry. Everyone Don worked with became his friend and every friend became part of The HoleView family.
The HoleView will continue with Terry Gamer at the helm, along with Alfred Schrader, V.P. of Sales, Paul Zeckhausen as Production Director and their staffs. "A company that has been operating successfully for over 12 years is the sum total of the talented staff of people selected by management," said Ms. Gamer. "The book will not be closed, there are many more chapters to come."
