The Jeffrey Brauer-designed golf course, located 20 minutes north of Wichita on Interstate 135, opened in July 2006 as a cornerstone to the planned 550-home development in south suburban Newton. The par-72 championship layout, highlighted by distinctive bunkering that incorporates the property’s native grasses, measures 7,400 yards from the tips and features four holes that border Sand Creek. An active railway winds through the course. Sand Creek Station is owned by the City of Newton, Kan., and operated by Northbrook, Ill.-based KemperSports.
