Two-time PGA TOUR winner Don Massengale passed away of a heart attack Tuesday evening in Conroe, TX, at the age of 69.

"The PGA TOUR family is saddened to learn of the passing of PGA TOUR and Champions Tour veteran, Don Massengale," said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. "Don was a significant contributor to both the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour, winning tournaments on both Tours. He was a strong performer and solid individual who was well respected by his peers and later appreciated by his many students for his teaching acumen, having learned the game from legendary teacher Harvey Penick. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his spouse Judy, his brother Rik who also played on the PGA TOUR, and the rest of the Massengale family."

A native of Jacksboro, TX, Massengale played the TOUR extensively from 1960 through 1970 and competed as late as 1985 in a PGA TOUR event. His best season on PGA TOUR was 1966 when he won both the Bing Crosby National Pro-Am and the Canadian Open en route to finishing 27th on the official money list. He also finished runner-up to Don January in a playoff at the 1967 PGA Championship at Columbine Country Club in Denver, CO.

Massengale played the Champions Tour full-time from 1987 to 1996, collecting two victories at the 1990 Grand Rapids Open and the 1992 Royal Caribbean Classic.

Massengale is survived by his wife Judy, sons Donnie (wife Laurie, children Brooke and Jessie); and Mark (wife Korin, children Jessica, Jacob and Jayden).

Services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Bible Church in The Woodlands, TX.
