(Ann Arbor, Michigan)—As the 2007 golf season gets underway, Ann Arbor- based Miles of Golf has again claimed honors from Golf World Business magazine as one the "100 Best Golf Shops in America." The announcement comes in the magazine’s January issue and cites Miles of Golf as one the country’s top retail golf operations of the past year. This is the seventh consecutive year Miles of Golf has made this honor roll of golf shops.

"We work very hard at being one of the best club-fitting shops in the country and that focus distinguishes us from our competitors," said Chris Mile, the president and co-founder of Miles of Golf.

Golf World Business’s certification of the nation’s best golf shops is based on a number of criteria, including appearance, revenue and promotional ideas and initiatives. In 2006, Miles of Golf’s major initiatives were a doubling of the size of the golf shop, a new and larger Cluboratory (club testing center) and the establishment along with the Kendall Academy of the Elite Players Association of Michigan, a program designed to help the state’s best players become better competitors.

"Through the years, we’ve done a number of things to enhance the value of our shop operation," said Doug Davis, vice-president and co-founder of Miles of Golf. "Inside, we’ve added space for additional clothing lines and club displays and outside we’ve improved our practice range, putting green and heated stalls. We try to answer all customer equipment needs and to make sure our clientele can test clubs and are properly fitted for them."

In addition to its retail operation, Miles of Golf boasts the Kendall Academy, long-recognized as one of the state’s top instructional facilities. The staff of PGA professionals includes 2006 Michigan PGA Golf Professional of the Year and two-time Teacher of the Year Dave Kendall, highly-regarded instructor Paul Haase and two-time Michigan PGA Player of the Year Tom Harding.

It’s not unusual to see golfers frequenting shops during the spring and summer, but Miles of Golf stays busy year-round, thanks to ongoing instructional programs and heated/sheltered golf range tees. Miles of Golf is located at 3113 Carpenter Road in Ypsilanti, just 1.5 miles northeast of the US-23/I-94 interchange. The Miles of Golf offices can be reached at (734) 973-9004 or toll-free at (877) 973-9005. More information is available on the web site www.milesofgolf.com.
