LAKE MARY, FL – Four vacancies on the International Network of Golf Advisory Board have been filled via election by the membership.
Two of those elected are brand new to the ING board: Mike Kern, golf writer of the Philadelphia Daily News, and Mark Silverman, editor of Golf Range Magazine. The other two are returning the advisory board. Tim O’Connor of O’Connor Golf Communications is a former president of ING, and Holly Geoghegan of Golf Marketing Services returns for another term on the board.
Over a dozen nominees were placed on the ballot to fill the terms. ING members were asked to vote for four candidates. The vote counting was conducted by M. Stewart & Associates, CPA, in Florida.
The 17-year-old International Network of Golf is a non-profit, media-based networking organization whose mission is to enhance and promote communication and education in golf. Among the many facets of ING are the ING Industry Honors, the ING Media Awards, the Dennis Walters Courage Award and the Chi Chi Rodriguez Humanitarian Award.
ING members are involved in two major conferences and other smaller gatherings each year. The ING Spring Conference brings together media and leaders from all aspects of the golf industry to discuss issues, test new products, enhance their job skills and network. This year’s event is set for June 3-7 at Turning Stone resort & Casino in Verona, NY. Also, the ING Fall Media Forum tackles timely issues affecting today’s golf media, and is held in conjunction with the PGA Fall Expo in Las Vegas.
ING is managed by a six-person Executive Committee, elected by the ING Advisory Board. Current E.C. consists of President John Glozek, Editor-Publisher of Golfing Magazine-New York; Vice-President Jack Bacot, Editor of Golfstyles-Carolinas; Past President Jay Hubbard, Director Marketing and PR at Tour Edge Golf; Geoff Converse, Freelance Golf Writer; John Steinbach, Senior Director Of Communications, TaylorMade-adidas Golf; and Executive Director Mike Jamison.
