Pagunsan’s Late Season Runner-Up Finish At The Prestigious Hong Kong Open, Televised In The U.S. On The Golf Channel, Catapulted Popular Rookie To Top Honor
La Habra, CA, January 3, 2007 – Maruman Golf Tour Staff member Juvic Pagunsan earned the distinction of being the PGA Asian Tour’s 2006 "Rookie of the Year". With an impressive performance in which Pagunsan took 2nd place at the late season 2006 UBS Hong Kong Open, the very popular 28 year old from the Philippines climbed the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit by climbing into 7th place on that Tour’s Money Leader List. The UBS Hong Kong Open was televised in the U.S. on The Golf Channel and those who watched witnessed Juvic Pagunsan’s charismatic personality and stellar play first hand. Hailed as "The People’s Champion" on the Asian Tour, Pagunsan is known for his winning smile as well as a growing legion of fans. Pagunsan, who turned pro in January of 2006 after an outstanding amateur career, lived up to his reputation as one of the PGA Asian Tour’s rising stars. U.S. golf fans can look for Pagunsan playing his Maruman equipment at the 2007 PGA Tour’s Sony Open in Hawaii later this month.
Juvic Pagunsan’s "Rookie of the Year" honor reflects a strong "comeback" showing for Maruman Golf on the world’s top professional Tours in 2006. In addition to Pagunsan’s "Rookie of The Year" Asian Tour title, 2006 saw Maruman clubs used to win the Japan LPGA "Tokai Classic". Maruman equipment was also used by Maruman Tour Staff member John Bickerton to win the 2006 PGA European Tour’s "French Open". These victories combined with Maruman’s commitment to the PGA Tours worldwide bode well for an even stronger Tour showing for Maruman Golf in 2007.
