Luxury Yacht Awaits Masters Ace In Doha
Doha (QATAR): As well as the famous trophy and a winner’s cheque for US$366,660, players in this month’s Commercialbank Qatar Masters will also have a chance of winning a $150,000 luxury cruiser courtesy of Alfardan Marine, the tournament’s hole-in-one sponsor.
For the first time in the event’s ten-year history, Alfardan Marine has come on board to offer a 26-foot Doral Monticello luxury cruiser for the first player able to hole his tee shot on the par-three seventeenth hole at the Doha Golf Club from January 25-28.
"It is only fitting for Alfardan Marine to be a sponsor at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, which is growing in popularity and stature every year and attracting top players from round the world," said Fadi Alyousfi, Associate Vice President of Alfardan Marine Services.
"The hole-in-one prize will add extra spice to the occasion and ensure large spectator attendance at the seventeenth hole over the four days."
The presence of the $150,000 cruiser floating in the middle of the lake in front of the 156-yard 17th hole will be the focus of both public and media attention for a hole-in-one prize that is one of the richest on either the PGA European Tour or the Asian Tour – both Tours sanction the Commercialbank Qatar Masters.
"It’s certainly a wonderful prize to offer for a hole-in-one and we are grateful for Alfardan Marine’s support of the tournament in this way," said Commercialbank of Qatar Group CEO Andrew Stevens. "And with the quality in our line-up, we certainly have the players capable of taking home the keys to what is a stunning boat."
Alfardan Marine Services Co. was established in Doha in the summer of 2005 to target the marine industry in Qatar, the Gulf and Middle East. Customers range from small boat owners and fisherman, to marine-related companies and mega yacht owners.
"I don’t know if Ernie Els, Retief Goosen or Chris DiMarco has a boat like this but I’m sure they would be more than happy to take one away from their visit to Doha this month," added Qatar Golf Association President Hassan Al Nuami. "Having the boat on display right in front of the green will certainly give the players an incentive to go for it and I’m sure I speak for everyone involved when I say we hope that one of them is able to win what is an unusual hole-in-one prize."
The $2.2 million Commercialbank Qatar Masters will be the tenth PGA European Tour/Asian Tour event staged in the state of Qatar and has attracted a world-class field including Els, Goosen, DiMarco, Sergio Garcia, Stuart Appleby, Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood.
