Gaithersburg, Maryland, January 9, 2007 â?¦ Highlighted by a win at the 2007 The Mercedes Championship, PrideSports, maker of Softspikes® golf cleats and the world’s leading manufacturer of golf cleats, today announced that for the 11th consecutive year the Company’s plastic cleats will start the season as the #1 brand on the PGA TOUR, according to the independent Darrell Survey. Additionally, PrideSports will head into 2007 as the #1 brand in worldwide plastic cleat sales at the combined retail, specialty, green grass and off-course channels.
Led by Softspikes’ Pulsarâ?¢, the #1 plastic cleat model on the PGA TOUR, and BlackWidowâ?¢, the #1 selling cleat model in the world, PrideSports recorded 17 wins on the PGA TOUR in 2006, while attaining 71% usage among players wearing plastic cleats. Moreover, 2006 data shows that plastic cleats, in general, continue to dominate on the PGA TOUR with 71% player usage, compared to just 29% for metal spikes.
Additionally, PrideSports reports that the Company’s patented Fast-Twistâ?¢ Insert System will also start 2007 as #1 on the PGA TOUR, after being utilized by over 75% of the players in 2006.
