ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL – The Acushnet Company secured three nominations and the USGA two in the 2006-07 ING Industry Honors, the 14th year for the golf industry awards program conducted by the International Network Of Golf.
Voting is currently taking place electronically by members of ING, the 17-year-old non-profit, media-based networking organization. Nominees will be recognized and winners announced January 26, 12:30 p.m. at the ING Industry Honors Presentation Press Conference during the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.
Acushnet’s nominees all came in television categories. Two of the three spots in the TV Commercial Series category were taken by Acushnet product campaigns. The popular Foot Joy commercials featuring Sign Boy, a former winner of this category, were nominated, as were the Titleist NXT spots featuring John Cleece as a raving architect. Also, the Cobra commercial featuring David Feherty in a cheerleading skirt and bouncing on a trampoline was nominated in the TV Commercial Series.
The USGA commercial, "You Make The Language, We’ll Make The Rules" was nominated in that category. And USGA Executive Director David Fay was nominated in the Business Achievement category alongside Dana Garmany of Troon Golf and John Hoeflich of Nickent Golf.
The ING Industry Honors program recognizes outstanding achievement in 12 business-related categories, such as product ingenuity, TV commercials, PR campaigns, business achievement, player development, print advertising, golf course design and tournament service.
The nomination process takes place throughout the golf season. Nominations may be submitted by anyone in the golf industry. Through sub-committees, nominees are narrowed to three per category, then winners are determined by vote of ING members. Winners receive a beautiful statue from Everything Metal Imaginable.
ING’s mission is to bring golf media together with representatives from all walks of the golf industry to discuss issues, exchange information, test new products and improve communication.
