(Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) – The PGA TOUR announced today a realignment of its communications directors for the Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour and its Information department.
Effective immediately, Dave Lancer, the TOUR’s longtime Director of Information, who has also served as Director of Public Relations for the Nationwide Tour the last seven years, will focus exclusively on Information across all three tours, while adding statistical oversight of the FedExCup to his responsibilities. Michael McPhillips has been named Director of Communications for the Champions Tour. Jeff Adams, who formerly served in that capacity, is the new Director of Communications on the Nationwide Tour.
"Dave, Michael and Jeff have considerable knowledge and expertise in golf and the communications field", said Ty Votaw, Executive Vice President, Communications and International Affairs for the PGA TOUR. "We have no doubt these new assignments will enhance the capabilities and service we provide to the media as well as our tournaments, sponsors and players on the PGA TOUR, Nationwide Tour and Champions Tour."
Lancer joined the PGA TOUR in 1984 after several years of working in college athletics and with the Chicago Bears. He has served in several capacities at the TOUR including Media Official, Assistant Public Relations Director, Director of Information and Director of Public Relations, Nationwide Tour.
McPhillips’ most recent position at the TOUR was Director of Tournament Business Affairs for the Champions Tour. In 1997 he joined the staff of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Previously, he worked on the marketing and advertising staff at Walt Disney World. In 1992 he was named tournament director and golf marketing manager for the Walt Disney World/Oldsmobile Golf Classic.
Adams, a longtime public relations and communications specialist in the golf industry who started his career with the LPGA, joined the PGA TOUR in 1998. He managed PR for the World Golf Championships and The Presidents Cup prior to being named Director of Public Relations for the Champions Tour in 2000.
Lancer, McPhillips and Adams will report to Bob Combs, the PGA TOUR’s Senior Vice President, Public Relations & Communications. McPhillips and Adams will interface closely with Rick George (President, Champions Tour) and Bill Calfee (President, Nationwide Tour), respectively, and the staffs, tournaments, sponsors and players on their tours.
