MARIETTA, Ga. – Eric Bartels has been hired as manager of communications for the Atlanta Junior Golf Association (AJGA), overseeing communications, marketing and advertising for the non-profit organization.
A sports marketing specialist, Bartels has served in a variety of capacities from marketing and event management to communications and advertising. Prior to joining the Atlanta Junior Golf Association, he served as a tournament coordinator and public relations representative for the Golf Channel in Orlando, Fla., for more than five years. Previous to the Golf Channel, he served as an account manager for Orlando, Fla.-based advertising agency, Kenton Smith Advertising & Public Relations, Inc.
A member of the National Sports Marketing Network (NSMN) and American Marketing Association (AMA), Bartels also has worked with the Orlando Magic, Florida Citrus Sports and ESPN.
He is a 1996 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in broadcast journalism. A native of Rochester, N.Y., Bartels will reside in Mariettta, Ga.
The Atlanta Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is non-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and gains its funding through memberships, sponsorships and contributions. Contributions to the Atlanta Junior Golf Association are thus tax deductible by individuals and corporations alike. The AJGA is governed by a Board of Directors who are leading area business people, golf enthusiasts and golf professionals. Members of the Board serve as volunteers and help guide the activities of the AJGA.
