Best Approach And The HoleView Merge To Form The World's Largest Guide Producer

January 18, 2007

On January 17, the two industry leaders – Best Approach Publications and The HoleView – merged their companies to create the world’s largest producer of yardage guides.
The merger – which was initiated by Don Gamer, HoleView’s founder, only weeks before his untimely death in a car accident – was finalized in time to coincide with the 2007 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Both companies will exhibit in Booth #3565.
Both companies have been on a parallel course, having formed their businesses in the same month 13 years ago. Each firm’s customer base is composed of a blend of the most prestigious courses in the world – resort, private and daily fee. They have each formed preferred vendor agreements with the largest management companies as well as industry supporters such as Avendra and Audubon International.
"We knew that combining the strengths of Best Approach and HoleView would allow us to provide golf courses with the widest variety of premium yardage guides. Plus, our new technology offers one-to-one marketing possibilities with the highest level of personalization," said Mike Howell, President of Best Approach. "Just as important, it has made it possible for us to offer incredibly aggressive financing programs."
Some of the unique products the companies have developed individually are QuickCoil and CustomCovers to personalize a courses’ yardage guide, QuickPage to replace holes in an existing book thereby keeping guides current when changes occur, and CourseFlight which provides animated flyovers for website enhancement and marketing.
The company headquarters will be in Arizona with a sales and support office in Connecticut. "We have been rivals for a very long time," said HoleView President, Terry Gamer. "It will be exciting to see what we can develop as friends, in an industry that values excellence, hard work and integrity.
