Young designers look at the possibilities of golf bags
GOLDEN, Colo. – Continuing with their quest to lead the way in golf bag evolution, Great Divider is spreading its creative wings once again by opening their own Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Design Lab.
"The design lab basically consists of a small group of independent young designers and myself," said Joseph "Jos" Erwin, Great Divider President. "We feel that by using fresh, young designers who have never worked in the industry before, we unlock a potential for more creative ideas and in the long run believe it will help impact the golfer’s enjoyment of the game."
Erwin has been the creative director at Great Divider responsible for new product development over the past five years before he and his co-worker Desiree Comiskey bought the company. He is responsible for the design of Great Divider’s latest lightweight, crushproof line. Through his design efforts, he was able to trim close to four pounds off of each bag’s frame while strengthening them in the process.
"We feel that someone who has worked in the industry for a long time may get stuck with ideas of what a golf bag ‘should be’ and may lose sight of dreaming what it can be," said Erwin. "With our manufacturing connections and proprietary technology, we can offer a service that no one else in the industry can match," Erwin said.
Great Divider’s OEM Design Lab will design golf bags, travel covers as well as shoe bags and other small accessories.
"As we create the latest in style and usability in golf bag design, we look forward to continuing the company’s unique ability of combining technology with practicality," he added.
