Company Tees Off With Birthday Party At PGA Show To Celebrate 100-Year Mark
SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – Longevity is a trait not commonly associated with golf brands. Â The industry sees many of them come and go each year. Â One brand, however, has reached a milestone virtually unheard of in golf by reaching 100 years of business. Â Burton Golf, a brand of premium golf bags and accessories, was founded by T.C. Burton in 1907, the same year President Theodore Roosevelt signed legislation that made Oklahoma the country’s 46th state.
"No golf bag brand can claim the achievement of staying in business for 100 years," said Mike Hedge, CEO of ForeFront, owner of the Burton brand.
"We’re proud to own one of golf’s oldest and most prestigious brands but the credit has to go to our loyal customers who have supported Burton and made it so successful.  Burton has established quite a heritage over its first 100 years and we hope to continue that heritage over the next century."
The company will kick off the centennial with a birthday party at the 2007 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Â Attendees are invited to come to booth
2035 on Thursday, January 25 at 4 p.m. for celebratory birthday cake.
Burton Golf has marked its celebration with the development of a centennial logo that will be used throughout the year. Â The logo commemorates Burton’s 100 years of quality, performance and innovation along with its tradition in golf bag excellence. Â A "Centennial Collection" of golf bags and accessories will also be unveiled at the PGA Merchandise Show.
Burton, which was acquired by ForeFront in September, is a leading supplier of premium golf bags to the "on course" distribution channel which services golf pro shops throughout North America and internationally. Burton Golf now offers the broadest range of golf bags in the industry ranging from highly functional and innovative stand and cart bags to ultra-fashionable ladies bags to custom golf bags. Â It is the only bag brand to carry a lifetime warranty.
Also highlighting the brand’s centennial is the introduction of its 2007 bag line. Features include the new, patent pending Monoshock stand system, X-Fit carry system and a new concept Hybrid CXS bag. In addition, Burton will continue its innovations in ladies golf bags with ultra-sophisticated fabrics.
