All-New MACTEC NVG2 Mid-Irons Combine Cup Face 360° Technology With Progressive Tunsten Weighting And Classic Design

Albany, GA. January 22, 2007 – Building on the success of MacGregor’s Cup Face 360A technology, MacGregor has introduced their all-new NVG2 Mid-Irons. While last year’s version of the NVG2 iron was praised for its innovative technology and positive test results, the new NVG2 Mid-Iron is, yet, another step closer toward giving golfers of all skill sets ultimate forgiveness and supreme shot control. With Cup Face 360 technology, resulting in the largest sweet spot on the market, combined with a progressive tungsten weighting system designed to deliver the most effective launch angle. The new NVG2 Mid-Irons are another breakthrough for MacGregor Golf and golfers everywhere.

"The testing results of last year’s NVG2 irons were an affirmation of our belief that Cup Face 360" technology is the way of the future," said Barry Schneider, Chairman and CEO of Macgregor Golf. "With more testing results as well as on the course feedback, we were able to improve on last year’s irons by creating a more classic and sleek looking cavity-back design while maintaining the integrity of the materials and technology."

The newly designed sleek top and rounded-off toe of the NVG2 Mid-Irons are influenced by a classic cavity-back design to which better players have grown accustomed. But don’t let the look fool you. The NVG2 Mid-Irons are designed to provide maximum forgiveness and ball-control for both higher and lower handicappers alike. Foremost among the NVG2 Mid-Irons’ technology is Cup Face 360°, which completely eliminates welds on the face of the club, turning the entire face into one big sweet spot for amazing forgiveness and high rebound properties across the entire club face, making every shot feel like it was hit dead center.

The Cup Face 360° is Plasma Welded to a unique Hollow-Body Structure which moves weight back and deep to promote an easy high launch and increased MOI (resistance-to-twisting). The combination of Cup Face 360° and the Hollow-Body Structure creates a trampoline effect across the entire clubface for maximum forgiveness and distance, even on off-center shots.

Another key feature of the NVG2 Mid-Irons is the inclusion of the Progressive Tungsten Weighting System. By localizing the center of gravity

(CG) according to the loft of the club, the resulting ball-flight is optimized for each particular shot. In the longer irons, the CG is set low and deep from the face for higher launches. Shorter irons have the CG located in the sole, lower and slightly toward the face for greater control.

Tungsten is two times the density of steel and therefore permits the precise, and varying, placement of CG for each loft to make every club easy-to-hit.

The combination of these advanced technologies, materials, and design results in irons that produce longer, higher launches with amazing distance and accuracy. With a sleek and refined top line combined with award winning technology, the NVG2 Mid-Iron allows the player to have confidence in their equipment.

The MACTEC NVG2 Mid-Irons are available in steel and graphite shafts.

The Triple-Action graphite shaft has two different bend points and three distinct zones of varying thickness and stiffness that generate greater club head speeds at impact, as much as 3 added miles per hour even for players with slower swings speeds. The Micro-Step 95-gram steel shaft is engineered with smaller step downs and a low bend point to promote higher launch angles.
