New Addition for Golfers Rounds Out $187 Million Resort Renovation
Marco Island, FL – January X, 2007 – Kicking off 2007, the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort has unveiled the $10 million, 21,000-square-foot Clubhouse at The Rookery. This newest addition for golfers, which boasts richly-designed banquet space perfect for exclusive group functions or post-tournament celebrations, rounds out an extensive $187 million resort renovation. The posh Clubhouse also boasts the Rookery Steakhouse featuring the finest in prime beef from Allen Brothers of Chicago, along with a variety of chops, seafood, chicken, creative side dishes and decadent desserts.
Among the swank features of the new Clubhouse are a private "Members Only" area complete with warm-up room, library, veranda, an intimate dining room, business offices and a private meeting room. "The Clubhouse was designed with all of our clients in mind, from groups to leisure guests, and especially club members. Our new facility allows us to extend the memorable golf experience off the course for pre- and post-play enjoyment here in the Clubhouse," stated Chris Major, director of golf operations.
The Rookery at Marco was redesigned in 2004 by the acclaimed Robert Cupp, Jr. as the ultimate resort private golf experience with five tee boxes on each of its 18 holes, oversized and receptive greens and immaculate Tif-Sport Bermuda Grass. Offering a stern challenge for the accomplished golfer yet an enjoyable test for the higher-handicapped player, the course is also home to the world-class instruction of The Faldo School by Marriott. As an Audubon-endorsed course, The Rookery at Marco is committed to conserving the ecological balance on Marco Island, by providing areas on the golf course where native birds and wildlife can thrive.
For those guests wanting to extend their stay on Marco Island while taking time to hit the links, the Escape Golf package includes a two-night stay in a coastal-view room with private balcony, breakfast for two each morning, two rounds of golf per stay including cart at The Rookery, bag tag and storage, complimentary range balls for the driving range as well as a golf gift item. Available year-round, the Escape Golf package starts at $339 per person, per night.*
