The Institute funds GCSAA Superintendent Leadership Series
The Environmental Institute for Golf, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), with the help of a one-year grant from BASF Professional Turf and Ornamentals, will fund the GCSAA Superintendent Leadership Series through 2007.
Fifteen Superintendent Leadership Series programs are offered through GCSAA’s 104 affiliated chapters, providing education seminars that focus on communication, leadership, management and employee/employer relations.
"BASF is a true friend to The Institute and our association," said GCSAA President Sean A. Hoolehan, CGCS. "This grant ensures 15 more seminars from our highly successful and popular Superintendent Leadership Series in 2007, which will only strengthen our members’ value in the workplace."
Since the inception of the Superintendent Leadership Series in 1997, 46 chapters have offered 136 seminars with more than 4,250 participants.
"Our strategy is to educate the public in general, particularly golfers, about the valuable work that superintendents do," said Toni Bucci, Ph.D., BASF Turf and Ornamentals business manager. "GCSAA members are some of our best customers and it will only benefit us to enhance their continuing education opportunities like the seminars offered on a chapter level through the Superintendent Leadership Series."
BASF has been a major supporter of The Institute and GCSAA activities over the years. As a member of the Platinum Tee Club for donations to The Institute of at least $5,000 annually, BASF donated money toward GCSAA’s 75th Anniversary activities, supports the Robert Trent Jones Endowment, contributed to the Investing in the Beauty of Golf endowment campaign and donates to the Golf Industry Show Silent Auction. BASF is recognized at the President’s Club level in the Cumulative Giving Program of donors who have contributed between $100,000 – $249,999 to The Environmental Institute for Golf since 1987.
