Recognized by U.S. Kids Golf as "America’s Top 50 Kids Teachers"
ORLANDO, FLA. (Jan. 25, 2007) Golf professionals who focus much of their time and attention on developing young golfers in their communities comprise U.S. Kids Golf’s third annual "America’s Top 50 Kids Teachers."
"Helping kids reach their potential and a love for the game requires a specialist; not everyone can do it," U.S. Kids Golf founder and president Dan Van Horn said during a ceremony at the PGA Merchandise Show here Thursday night. "The most important thing we do together is help kids have fun."
John Godwin, director of player development for U.S. Kids Golf and a former PGA Junior Leader of the Year, added, "This award recognizes a group of professionals whose work is sometimes invisible, but whose contributions are so valuable."
The 2006 list of top teachers was compiled from nominations from golf professionals and golf industry independent sales representatives. The selection criteria included success in organizing and administering youth programs, as well as teaching.
The 2006 Top 50 list includes teachers from 26 states and the United Kingdom. Eight of the teachers on the 2006 list have been among the Top 50 teachers each of the three years.
